What is Alexa?

I’d hope that anyone reading this blog already has a good idea about what Alexa.com (Alexa) is and what they offer. For those that don’t, here’s a brief overview:

Alexa was founded in 1996 and is now a subsidiary company of Amazon.com. They primarily collect and share information about websites, such as related links and traffic rankings. They collect this information from users who install their toolbar. After installing the toolbar, sites the user visits, how they found those websites and such like is passed back to Alexa.
