Front beam nearly out…

April 6, 2007 on 7:08 pm | In Volkswagen Beetle | 2 Comments

I spent most of today working on getting the front beam out of the car ready to be replaced with an adjustable one. Unfortunately it didn’t go quite to plan since many of the bolts had been rounded or were simply so rusty that they weren’t even close to the shape of a bolt anymore. I ended up having to angle grind some bolts and because of this I’m going to need 2 new ball joints on the main steering column and a ball joint on the end of a steering rod.

The disc on my angle grinder (which I only bought today) has run out and I can’t put a new disc on because the stupid angle grinder wont unlock where you put the discs on. So right now the front beam is still in the car but only just!

  1. I would have suggested using a ceramic disc perhaps a Nortain SG product or even one the the Cubitron 3M Green Corps discs …
