Ok John Lennon is dead. Ska is rife in East London skinheads and blacks submerge in an anti culture full of fun and darkness called Ska meanwhile Bob Marley sings “get up” and riots throughout Africa start.

Fucking hell what the media missed. Blacks became empored by Bob Marley in UK everyone loved him and respected him. In America Michael Jackson had Just released “Off the Wall” to huge critical acclaim.

As Marley pumped out the jamiacan beat and london danced to ska Jackson mixed soul and jazz funk to create “Thriller”……..

I rememeber Christmas that year an yoko ono and John Lennon singing Imagine on tv with John Lennon Dead, meanwhile a few miles from me in brixton racial tention was rising.

Just two years later I rushed out to buy “ghost town” by the specials. East London was rioting, and this line from the song will always haunt me “All the clubs have been closed down
This place, is coming like a ghost town
Bands won’t play no more
too much fighting on the dance floor
“, I saw the whole of brixton boarded up.

The Specails whent number one in uk with “ghost town” and then split. It seemed to me appriopriate to me.
